Participation in the Complex Systems-2017 Conference

The Complex Systems Conference 2017 took place from May 23 to May 25 in the New Forest National Park in the UK, where the meeting has taken place annually since 2015. It was organized by Professor George Rzevski of the Open University and Professor Carlos A. Brebbia of Wessex Institute.

During the Conference, participants from many different regions of the world (USA, Russia, Norway, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, China, UK, Spain) and from a wide variety of disciplines discussed the new applications required for the solution of complex issues which cannot be resolved using conventional mathematical or software models. A particular area of interest is the use of multi-agent technology and similar distributed approaches, which has achieved credible application results.

The Conference covered a wide range of topics in the following general fields:

Complexity in science
Complex adaptive business
Complex adaptive healthcare
Complexity in transportation systems

Professor Petr Skobelev made an invited report Smart projects: multi-agent solution for aerospace applications. Modern aerospace enterprises tend to utilize new advantages of networking organizations for increasing business efficiency. In practice it requires to introduce a new type of project management stimulating self-organization and active interaction between actors to make coordinated and effective decisions on resource allocation, both within the individual project teams and between the teams.

Presentation of Professor Petr Skobelev: Smart Projects: Multi-Agent Solution for Aerospace Applications

In his report Professor Skobelev proposes the concept of new project management for networking organizations and describe the multi-agent system Smart Projects for supporting decision making to maximize productivity and efficiency of human resources. The system supports self-organization of teams with ongoing adaptive planning and communication with employees. This provides more coordinated, flexible and efficient resource utilization in case of unexpected events. The functionality and architecture of Smart Projects system are presented as well as first results of applications.
